Orwetoveni Library to Open in Otjiwarongo

The new Orwetoveni Library will officially open its doors on Saturday, 10 October in Otjiwarongo.

This establishment is open to the entire community and is a project set up by Peri Naua Namibia, who work in the educational field, including the management of a pre-primary school for disadvantaged children since 2009.

This project was also supported by the gold mine Be2Gold, which funded the books, furniture and building renovation, as well as the Clay House Project, which has donated the building. Other donors have also contributed to the project by donating books.

Monique Escurat from Peri Naua Namibia said “this new library is meant to be a meeting and learning place for the whole population, especially the youth, where it will be possible to study, relax for a read, or do various activities proposed by volunteers.”

Over 1 500 books await local children and are divided into three sections: picture books, fiction and non-fiction as well as comics, audio books and other books.

This library is free for everyone and the lending of books will be made available to school teachers in the district.

The library will be open from Monday to Friday from 13h00 to 17h00 and Saturday mornings from 08h00 to 12h00.
