Opposed To ‘Free Money’

Opposed To ‘Free Money’

I WISH to view my opinion on the news that the Omitara squatters are to receive a monthly remuneration from the social project of the Basic Income Grant (BIG).

It is unheard of that informal settlers receive a reward for turning an otherwise intact country into a third-world country! We can all calculate the outcome of this, namely, everyone will now become a squatter. If there is free money, why should we work? This will have such predictable and unpredictable repercussions. The crime and unrest will escalate and with that Namibia will be earmarked as an unsafe country. The main income, tourism, will regress and thousands of Namibians will be without work!! Dear decision makers of “BIG”, have you got all those resources planned, as all will knock on your door then to also receive the free handouts. But no, you will not have, because you have seemingly never enjoyed education.Neither do you seem to have a good logic.Otherwise you would not have come up with this ultimate in stupidity and step backwards! Why this forceful attempt to make Namibia look like the rest of Africa? Have you been to Somalia, Rwanda, Congo to name just a very few of those places in shambles.Go and see for yourself and you will understand what is meant with this wake-up call to you.Stop giving handouts, start helping! Some advice to you on how to do this, use that surplus in money you seem to have and teach those squatters.Teach them the basics of life, personal hygiene, clothes, basic code of conduct and voila – there is the first step into a better future.Help them to be integrated into society and to find their own jobs.Create jobs for them by for instance ensuring that the Government does not give those jobs to the Chinese, Koreans etc. This is to date the thickest of all roots of the problems we have in this country! Solve that and Namibia will smile. It is whacky brains like you which make the choice between a smiling rainbow nation and the dump of the rest of Africa! And this letter is not just from any old chirper out there, no, I have also started right down there.I have had to work my way up, but the difference between me and many of you is, I have pride, I wanted to achieve and I have! And I am proud of it, proudly Namibian! Please note, it was the honest way and without corruption or theft.I got no money or handouts, just tuition and education.I thank the people for the guidance and for teaching me the basics in life and through that paved my way up.I pray that this is afforded to many more of my brothers and sisters in this beautiful land.BIG, go on, guide them!
