Online trade tools available

WINDHOEK – Two powerful online tools for trade analysis are now available to users in Namibia.

Aimed at supporting Namibia’s business community, the tools are the result of a partnership between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the International Trade Centre (ITC). The Trade Map USAID and Product Map were introduced to participants from the business community, the Chamber of Commerce, trade organisations and research institutions at a recent workshop in Windhoek.”These tools involved years of development work within ITC, supported by expertise from around the world,” said workshop facilitator Bastiaan Bijl.Because of a grant from USAID, access to these tools is free for enterprises and trade support institutions in Namibia and a select number of other African countries. They can be used to help design trade strategies, develop export marketing plans, promote regional trade, diversify exports, target investments, assess trade performance and take advantage of trade opportunities like the US-SACU Free Trade Agreement which is now under negotiation.- Nampa Eenhana gets bank branch EENHANA – The opening of a permanent branch of Bank Windhoek at Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region signalled the beginning of the Town Council’s success in its struggle to make Eenhana an economically independent town. The town’s Deputy Mayor, Paulus Mwandingi, said this at the official inauguration of the new Bank Windhoek branch at the town last week.In its struggle for economic independence, he said, the council of Eenhana is also striving to reduce the soaring rates of unemployment and eventually alleviate poverty in the region.”Eenhana Town Council has embarked upon an aggressive campaign to attract investment and to develop our town as an economically viable town in the Ohangwena Region,” he said.He said the opening of Bank Windhoek at Eenhana should be seen as a stepping-stone for future development in the town and the region in general.- NampaThe Trade Map USAID and Product Map were introduced to participants from the business community, the Chamber of Commerce, trade organisations and research institutions at a recent workshop in Windhoek.”These tools involved years of development work within ITC, supported by expertise from around the world,” said workshop facilitator Bastiaan Bijl.Because of a grant from USAID, access to these tools is free for enterprises and trade support institutions in Namibia and a select number of other African countries. The town’s Deputy Mayor, Paulus Mwandingi, said this at the official inauguration of the new Bank Windhoek branch at the town last week.In its struggle for economic independence, he said, the council of Eenhana is also striving to reduce the soaring rates of unemployment and eventually alleviate poverty in the region.”Eenhana Town Council has embarked upon an aggressive campaign to attract investment and to develop our town as an economically viable town in the Ohangwena Region,” he said.He said the opening of Bank Windhoek at Eenhana should be seen as a stepping-stone for future development in the town and the region in general.- Nampa
