One, Two, Three, Red Light

THE Municipality needs to give attention to the state of the robots (traffic lights) in our capital city.

You will find now that most of them are only half operational, and this is both an inconvenience for drivers and pedestrians, and also dangerous. If you are facing a set of lights, you might notice the ones on the left work, whereas the ones on the right don’t, and if you are making a right-hand turn and have to wait for oncoming traffic to pass, you cannot see that the light has perhaps turned red in the interim. This is most unsafe.Any driver can go now to some of our major intersections and they will see that this is true.I realise there is an attrition rate on our traffic lights, especially at month end, where some of them are regularly flattened by intoxicated drivers; but I do think it is a priority that the Municipality and traffic department needs urgently to address in the interests of road safety.Angry Driver WindhoekIf you are facing a set of lights, you might notice the ones on the left work, whereas the ones on the right don’t, and if you are making a right-hand turn and have to wait for oncoming traffic to pass, you cannot see that the light has perhaps turned red in the interim. This is most unsafe.Any driver can go now to some of our major intersections and they will see that this is true.I realise there is an attrition rate on our traffic lights, especially at month end, where some of them are regularly flattened by intoxicated drivers; but I do think it is a priority that the Municipality and traffic department needs urgently to address in the interests of road safety.Angry Driver Windhoek
