On Rundu’s Roads

I’VE been living in Rundu and have seen all the development that happens in the town, but to my surprise one thing has never changed – the roads.

More specifically, the road that passes through town. It is so narrow that it only allows two cars to pass one other, it does not have pavements for pedestrians to walk on and it does not even have road markings. The town does not even have proper parking space for private cars; accidents are caused every day by taxi drivers because they make U-turns whenever they see their customers, and because there is no pavement or yellow lines to stop them.As a student, whenever I travel I compare my town to the other towns on my way to or from Windhoek, and you clearly see the difference. Some towns are small but have good roads and they are clean. Our town does not have a park where you can sit or hang around. It makes one ask whether the Town Council does not have money or don’t they see the need to make our town beautiful for the residents and to attract tourists?
