The City of Windhoek has announced the temporary closure of the Olympia Swimming Pool for two days.
The swimming pool will be closed on Friday and Saturday due to an event taking place at the facility.
In a public notice issued on Thursday, the municipality says the pool would reopen on Sunday.
The closure comes as the Namibia Meteorological Service warns of extremely hot weather across the country, with temperatures expected to range between 36°C and 42°C for the rest of the week and into the weekend.
The weather service says the heatwave is expected to reach the Khomas region by Friday before spreading to southern Namibia over the weekend.
The municipality has advised residents who wish to swim during the closure to use the Western Suburb Swimming Pool as an alternative.
