Old Mutual Namibia on Monday donated over 100 pairs of shoes, stationery, and toiletries to Swakopmund Primary School.

Annemarie Mater, a teacher at the school, highlighted the immense challenges faced by many pupils, who often come from impoverished backgrounds.

“It’s heartbreaking to see children without basic necessities,” she says.

“This donation will make a tangible difference in their lives.”

Old Mutual Namibia Short Term Insurance managing director Riaan Swiegelaar emphasised the company’s commitment to giving back.

“We believe in investing in our communities,” he says.

“By providing these essential items, we hope to contribute to the overall wellbeing of these young learners.”

Mater adds that, “A simple pair of shoes can make a child feel included and valued.”

The school also runs feeding schemes.

“Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to ensuring that no child is left behind,” Mater says.
