Old Mutual appoints Sepo Haihambo as MD

The Old Mutual Investment Group has appointed Sepo Haihambo as managing director designate for its Namibian operations, effective 1 April.

Haihambo has more than 20 years of leadership experience across banking, investment management and financial services.

Previously, she served as the chief executive for commercial at First National Bank Namibia and has held several senior leadership and board positions within Namibia’s financial sector. She is a Harvard Business School alumna and is widely recognised for her strategic insight, strong governance capability and people-centred leadership style.

Her appointment forms part of the group’s long-term leadership and succession planning, ensuring the continued delivery of strong investment outcomes, responsible stewardship and sustainable growth on behalf of clients.

Old Mutual Namibia Group chief executive Tassius Chigariro says Haihambo is a highly respected leader with deep financial services expertise and a strong track record of driving performance while maintaining sound governance.

“Her strategic mindset, leadership capability and values-driven approach align strongly with Old Mutual’s purpose. We are confident that she will play a critical role in strengthening Old Mutual Investment Group Namibia’s position and supporting long-term value creation for our clients and stakeholders,” Chigariro says.

Haihambo has expressed her appreciation for the appointment, saying that she is honoured.

“Old Mutual has a rich legacy and a strong commitment to responsible investment, transformation and long-term value creation.

I look forward to working with the Old Mutual Investment Group Namibia team to build on this foundation and contribute meaningfully to Namibia’s investment landscape,” she says.

Old Mutual has also extended its appreciatoin to Lionel Kannemeyer for his years of dedicated service to Old Mutual Investment Group Namibia and the Old Mutual Group. Under his leadership, the investment business achieved significant milestones and strengthened its position as a trusted asset manager in the market.

“We thank Lionel for his contribution, leadership and commitment over the years. His impact on the business and the people he worked with will be long remembered,” adds Chigariro.

Haihambo officially assumed her role on 1 April, working closely with the current leadership team to ensure a seamless transition.
