OKTOBERFEST, one of the world’s biggest beer festivals, is currently underway at Vintage Coffee Shop in Windhoek.
Gates opened at 15h00 for the event which is hosted in collaboration with Etjo Sounds.
Owner and manager of Vintage Coffee Shop, Martin Liebenberg, says he decided to host the festival because once again there won’t be the big official event held this year.
“People can expect a great atmosphere, good music, mouthwatering German food, beer and lots of specials. There are also a few nice prizes to be won for the best dressed individuals,” says Liebenberg.
“We are in a lucky period in relation to the Covid restrictions where we can at least host 150 people. Just enough to make it for a great event.”
Liebenberg says the public desperately need a platform where they can relax and unwind, especially after the challenges of Covid-19.
“We feel the public is crying for events right now. Many people are hungry to get out of their homes and just enjoy some time out. Oktoberfest was a natural conclusion.”
While this is the first time Vintage Coffee Shop is hosting Oktoberfest, Liebenberg says they’ve hosted plenty of successful events in the past, including live music events, functions and parties.
“Our staff will make sure that this is a stand out event as we just love hosting our customers. This event is a great idea for the people of Windhoek to enjoy themselves in a safe environment after a long year of insecurities and seeing too much of the inside of their own houses,” Liebenberg says.
