The Okahao Town Council’s newly elected mayor, Gandja Iyambo, highlights honesty, integrity, achievement-oriented dedication and open communication with teamwork and participation as the core values that will steer the new council’s conduct.
He says these values are a promise and commitment guiding the council’s new term.
“I want to urge all councillors to approach their roles with humility, maturity and a shared commitment to the town’s development,” he adds.
Iyambo also calls for unity among councillors from different political parties, stressing that political diversity should strengthen deliberations and decisions rather than divide them.
He further emphasises the importance of collaboration between the council and administration for effective governance, where the council sets directions through resolutions and the administration implements them for the community’s benefit.
The following councillors were elected to serve in the respective portfolios on the council: Loide Amadhila as deputy mayor and vice chairperson of the council, Andreas Nekwaya as chairperson of the management committee, Lukas Shaanika as member of the management committee, Ndapandula Erastus as member of the management committee, and Magdalena Iitula and Temus Alweendo as ordinary council members.
