Okahandja trade expo set for Tuesday

The 2025 Okahandja Tourism and Trade Expo is set to commence on Tuesday at the town’s sport stadium.

The expo’s coordinator, Maggy Sheya, in an interview on Wednesday said this year’s activities will be supported by local companies who have pledged their support to the trade fair.

“The Okahandja municipality is still the custodian of the trade fair, and this year we are backed up by our big local companies, enabling us to host the first-ever big trade fair and extending exhibition days from four to five days,” said Sheya.

The event will take place from 29 April to 3 May, with a total of 100 exhibitors that have registered so far.

“All those who still want to apply can do so until Monday, as the municipality intends to accommodate all applicants,” she said.

About 25 local Namibian corporate companies and one international organisation have confirmed their attendance, along with 45 small and medium enterprises and 30 local businesses that sell kapana, Sheya outlined.

“We still have open spaces to accommodate local kapana vendors, and we promise not to turn anyone away who is interested in joining us as this year’s theme is ‘Reviving the Okahandja Expo By Empowering Entrepreneurships Through Innovation’,” Sheya said.

Several activities such as music shows, the Miss Okahandja Expo pageant, small livestock exhibition, presentations and seminars in agriculture, financing and health sectors form part of the programme.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is expected to officially open the 2025 Okahandja Tourism and Trade Expo, which is expected to attract more than 10 000 visitors, on 30 April.
