A former teacher from the Ohangwena region was sentenced to 13 years in prison in the Ohangwena Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Fransina Mwetufa was arrested in 2021 on five charges: the attempted murder of her colleague, theft under false pretences, fraud, forgery and uttering.

She was employed at Limbadungila Combined School in the Ohangwena region, where she had taught for two years before her arrest.

It was later discovered Mwetufa had forged her academic qualifications to obtain employment at the school.

She was further discovered to have dubiously transacted money from the school principal’s account, and allegedly bought a vehicle for which she forged proof of payment.
