A police officer was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping an inmate in the Kavango West region.
Kavango West chief inspector Raimbeth Muronga says the suspect (32) raped the victim (22) in a holding cell at Ncaute Police Station.
“It is alleged that the suspect while on duty forcefully had sexual intercourse with the victim in the holding cell on two separate occasions,” he says.
The incidents allegedly took place on 22 and 23 January.
Muronga says the suspect will be charged and will appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Investigations in the matter continue.
