BRAVE Warriors defender Ryan Nyambe says with a solid football foundation many of his compatriots can play professionally in Europe.
The 23-year-old, who plays for Blackburn Rovers in the English Championships, intends to host a coaching clinic in Windhoek from 15 May.
He also plans to establish a football academy on home soil.
“The idea came to me as soon as I was drafted into the national team and saw the talent that is around. With proper coaching and set-up these guys too can play in English and other major countries, and for me it’s about doing my part to push that dream forward,” Nyambe says.
The Katima Mulilo native moved to England during his childhood years and signed up for Blackburn Rovers’ academy at the age of 13.
The versatile Nyambe has racked up over 150 appearances for the 1994/95 English Premier League winners since breaking into the first team in 2015.
He was fortunate to get a football education at the Lancashire club from an early age, which set him up for a professional career.
Once up and running, the Ryan Nyambe Soccer School will focus on boys and girls between six and 15 years old.
Nyambe will be joined by MTC Hopsol Youth Soccer League founder Collin Benjamin and ex- Brave Warriors captain Ronald Ketjijere for coaching clinics at the NFA Technical Centre.
“It’s really massive for me to have these guys around. Their pedigree says it all, and together we can do better by combining our knowledge,” he says about the initiative to plough back into his community.
“Our country needs us, and whatever small thing we do will go a long way in giving these youngsters the dream and motivation to go further,” Nyambe said.
