Nust buckles under SRC pressure

John Haufiku

Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust) spokesperson John Haufiku has confirmed that hundreds of students who have initially been barred from attending an upcoming graduation ceremony, will now do so on condition that they would not receive their degrees and certificates until they have fully paid their university fees.

The last-minute decision comes after Nust’s Student Representative Council last week set an ultimatum, threatening to boycott the entire event unless the involved students were allowed to attend.

This is the second time the university makes such a decision, but Haufiku says it will be the last as the institution does not want to set a precedent.
