Nujoma ‘not at Omusati meeting’

THE office of former President Sam Nujoma took exception to a sentence in a story that appeared on the front page of The Namibian on Monday, where it was said he had attended a meeting in the Omusati Region on September 22.

John Nauta, Senior Special Assistant to Nujoma, yesterday said Nujoma was in Windhoek on that day, after returning from a geological excursion to southern Namibia the day before. “The Founding Father had a meeting with President Pohamba at State House that Saturday morning and remained in the capital.Your source is wrong and you should query your source,” Nauta told this reporter. In the story it was said that Nujoma had attended a funeral near Okahao that day and afterwards had a meeting with several Swapo members.”This was definitely not the case,” Nauta said.”The Founding Father had a meeting with President Pohamba at State House that Saturday morning and remained in the capital.Your source is wrong and you should query your source,” Nauta told this reporter. In the story it was said that Nujoma had attended a funeral near Okahao that day and afterwards had a meeting with several Swapo members.”This was definitely not the case,” Nauta said.
