ALLOW me a space in your respected newspaper to air this issue which is close to my heart.I am a regular reader of your newspaper and other Namibian newspapers too.
According to the writer of the letter “No to Nujoma bursary” (The Namibian, Tuesday, 05 July 2005) I would like to make it clear that public should learn to emphasise issues that are truly affecting us all. I understand fully and agree with the sentiment expressed in the letter and of course I support it without hesitation.A lot of students at our leading institutions of higher education are sleepless all night long, thinking about how they should settle their outstanding bills or face withheld exam results or not being allowed to the examination because of unpaid accounts, yet, the diamond company did not look at the needy but at a prominent figure, just because he is studying or because he is the founding father? This raises a BIG question mark. Our streets are crowded with children who are supposed to be in schools, who are homeless and of course do not have the daily bread they need every day! But has the company thought of providing for those kids in one way or another? Citizen, what is your say? Millions of dollars are pumped into a movie, but will the Tsumkwe communities and other rural dwellers benefit from this movie? Please citizens of this motherland, let’s stand together and learn to think about others needs, not only our own. It’s time that we consider our own citizens FIRST!!A Namibian Citizen Via e-mailI understand fully and agree with the sentiment expressed in the letter and of course I support it without hesitation.A lot of students at our leading institutions of higher education are sleepless all night long, thinking about how they should settle their outstanding bills or face withheld exam results or not being allowed to the examination because of unpaid accounts, yet, the diamond company did not look at the needy but at a prominent figure, just because he is studying or because he is the founding father?
