SWAPO President Sam Nujoma has lashed out at white community members who criticised controversial statements on land reform made by Deputy Minister of Lands and Resettlement, Isak Katali.
Addressing a large crowd at the launch of the Omusati Education and Training Fund at Outapi on Saturday, Nujoma said the white community had committed a crime against humanity. “The British should be careful because they’re trying to break down Mugabe’s Zimbabwe,” said Nujoma.”If the English imperialists make a mistake today to occupy Zimbabwe, I will instruct Swapo to go fight for the Zimbabweans … you touch Zimbabwe, you touch Swapo,” said an angry Nujoma.About two months ago, Katali was quoted in Zimbabwe’s state-owned Herald newspaper as saying that he was visiting Zimbabwe to see how that country “tackled their successful land reform programme”.”Land reform is important to Namibia and we feel that the same colonisers are the same people who colonised Zimbabwe. We feel that if the people of Zimbabwe did this, we can do it in the same manner,” he was quoted as saying.”The British should be careful because they’re trying to break down Mugabe’s Zimbabwe,” said Nujoma.”If the English imperialists make a mistake today to occupy Zimbabwe, I will instruct Swapo to go fight for the Zimbabweans … you touch Zimbabwe, you touch Swapo,” said an angry Nujoma.About two months ago, Katali was quoted in Zimbabwe’s state-owned Herald newspaper as saying that he was visiting Zimbabwe to see how that country “tackled their successful land reform programme”.”Land reform is important to Namibia and we feel that the same colonisers are the same people who colonised Zimbabwe. We feel that if the people of Zimbabwe did this, we can do it in the same manner,” he was quoted as saying.
