The Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund has issued a statement after students’ personal information was published online.
The institution says the incident was indeed an internal issue and not ransomware or a hack.
An advert was mistakenly published on the website with a file containing students’ personal information and was removed upon detection.
The institution has acknowledged its mistake and will take accountability and ensure that such incidents do not repeat themselves.
It assures the public that its information technology systems remain secure.
