YOUR article entitled ‘Farmers clique defiant’ of June 10 does not seem to be in the best interest of the whole matter.
While I realise that you rely on sensationalist stories to sell your paper, you must also realise your influence on public opinion and the responsibility that comes with it. I find that if you are to highlight the fact that a group of farmers are defiant about land reform, you should at least highlight the other part of the story just as well, i.e.that the farmers are everything but united in this defiant approach. That, to me, is a very vital piece of information, which is lost to people just reading the first couple of paragraphs. In fact, very few people read complete articles. In essence, you are adding more dynamite to a time bomb, and that is not in the interest of anybody, I believe.Unless you can convince me otherwise? The Afrikaans daily published a far more balanced article that included most information that you published plus more.Siegfried Herholdt Via e-mailI find that if you are to highlight the fact that a group of farmers are defiant about land reform, you should at least highlight the other part of the story just as well, i.e.that the farmers are everything but united in this defiant approach. That, to me, is a very vital piece of information, which is lost to people just reading the first couple of paragraphs. In fact, very few people read complete articles. In essence, you are adding more dynamite to a time bomb, and that is not in the interest of anybody, I believe.Unless you can convince me otherwise?
