Northern Stream football playoffs finalised for Oct

THE Namibia Football Association’s Organising and Competitions Committee (OCC) yesterday announced that the promotion and relegation playoffs for the Northern Stream First Division will be held at Grootfontein and Rundu on October 1 and 2.

Six clubs in the Far North and North East First Divisions will be eligible for the playoffs. The qualification criteria will be determined on a round-robin basis.Despite the successful completion of the promotion playoffs in the south, which has now been transformed into the Southern Stream First Division, several clubs are still not happy with the new set-up.The NFA’s OCC has so far stuck by its guns and warned that only players who are registered with participating clubs would be allowed to play in the matches in October. At this stage, teams which will be derived from the Far North Nationwide First Division are Newcastle United, Chelsea, Onambula United, Robber Chanties, Fair Way Stars, Chiefs and Dynamos. The teams from the North East First Division are Rundu Chiefs, Bingo, Cuca Tops, Julinho, Namib Chiefs and Flying Eagles. The teams that will play in the playoffs have been divided into four groups, with Group A and B playing at Rundu, while Group C and D will be fighting it out in Grootfontein.Teams in Group A are: Rundu Chiefs, Dynamos and Namib Chiefs, while Group B consists of Newcastle United, Flying Eagles and Robber Chanties.Group C includes Chelsea, Cuca Tops and Onambulka United, and Group D are Bingo FC, Fair Way Stars and Julinho.
