No word on BA/Stars match

THE Namibia Premier League (NPL) cannot yet make a decision on the abandoned match between African Stars and Black Africa last Wednesday, as they have not yet received a detailed report from the match commissioner.

NPL chairman Moses Ikanga yesterday confirmed to The Namibian Sport that his office did not receive any report from the Referees’ Committee headed by Boy Boy Ndjadila. The premiership match, which was scheduled for 19h00 at the SKW Stadium, did not start after Black Africa officials were not happy with referee Matthew Katjimune, who was assigned for the match. They accused him of being under the influence of alcohol and thus could not accept him as being the man in the middle, in what was a crucial encounter for the two sides.Ikanga said they were still waiting for the report and could not take any decision at the moment.”The report ought to be submitted to the league administrator who in turn will present it to the NPL management committee,” he said.Chief of referees Ndjadila said he had submitted the report, as he was the match commissioner on the day.”I gave the report to Titus Kunamuene and he was supposed to give it to Ikanga who is the NPL chairman.I did not want to submit it to the league administrator,” he said. The NPL’s league administrator is Tovey //Hoebeb.Asked why he did not forward it to //Hoebeb, Ndjadila did not comment, but it is believed that //Hoebeb is a long-time supporter of Black Africa.Black Africa insisted that Katjimune be subjected to a breathalyser test, which he refused to do, arguing that he was fit for the match as his boss, Ndjadila, did also not find anything wrong with him.Ikanga said once they had the report, the management committee would study it and the NPL’s Board of Governors (BoG) would take a decision.Ikanga said they would possibly receive the report today as it is the last day of submission, before a decision is taken later in the week.He said depending on the commissioner’s report, the BoG might call for a reply, deduct points from the team that has put through the complaint or punish the referee.
