No To Govt Officials On Private Boards

FIRST of all let me thank our President and the PM for the pace at which they are dealing with corruption in the country.

As they say: ‘we should stop it before it stops us’. I would like to raise my concern about some private companies that deliberately appoint boards of directors from either the Office of the Prime Minister, Office of the President or Office of the Founding President. In my view, this is pure Government lobbying as it gives unfair advantage to these entities. My suggestion is that such directors should resign from private companies with immediate effect.I am particularly referring to bona fide private companies and not to parastatals in which Government has a stake. In the same vein, it is also corruption for someone to serve on more than three boards. There should be a standard to determine on how many boards an average person can work productively. In this way, more people would get a chance to contribute to the development of the country’s economy with innovative ideas.Eugene Mostert, WindhoekI would like to raise my concern about some private companies that deliberately appoint boards of directors from either the Office of the Prime Minister, Office of the President or Office of the Founding President. In this way, more people would get a chance to contribute to the development of the country’s economy with innovative ideas.Eugene Mostert, Windhoek
