No re-entry visa for permanent residents

THE ministry of home affairs said holders of permanent residence permits (PRPs) are not required to obtain a re-entry visa in order to reside in Namibia.

This was said in a statement issued this month by the ministry’s public relations officer Sakeus Kadhiwka.

“The Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration announced that no PRP holder will be denied entry back to Namibia for this reason,” it stated.

In addition, PRP holders have been advised by the ministry to acquaint themselves with the provision of section 26 (5) of the Immigration Control Act of 1993.

The act stipulates that PRP holders who have not yet acquired domicile status and stay out of Namibia for a continuous period of two years will lose their permanent residency.

However, those who want to apply for the re-entry visa for their convenience can still apply for one at a fee of N$800.
