No other vehicle involved in Uerikua accident – police

The Otjozondjupa regional police on Friday confirmed that no other vehicle was involved in the accident that claimed the life of Swapo member of parliament James Uerikua and his son on Friday.

Regional police commander Phillip Nghidengwa said the crash was caused by a burst tyre.

“He lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. He lost his life in the accident, and later we received a report from the hospital that his son also died,” he said.

Nghidengwa said Uerikua’s wife survived the accident, but is in a critical condition.

The former Otjozondjupa governor was 43 years old.
