A SWAPO parliamentarian in the National Council yesterday called on Government to stop buying Chevrolet vehicles for the Police, charging that the American cars were too expensive to maintain.

Noah Tuhadeleni, speaking in the NC during debate on the Police budget for 2004-05, said Government should instead by cars which are cheaper to maintain, such as Toyotas. He said this way Government would save money to pay for other essential services.A large number of Chevvies are off the road and Government is battling to pay for the spare parts to repair them.”For the Police to complete it’s mission more vehicles need to be purchased, but please no more Chevrolets,” said Tuhadeleni. He said this way Government would save money to pay for other essential services.A large number of Chevvies are off the road and Government is battling to pay for the spare parts to repair them.”For the Police to complete it’s mission more vehicles need to be purchased, but please no more Chevrolets,” said Tuhadeleni.
