No Fear: Hitman

NAMIBIAN lightweight world boxing boxing champion, Paulus ‘Hitman’ Moses says he fears no-one when he enters the ring, including the famous Mexican fighter Marco Antonio Barrera, who he is set to meet in his second title defence early next year.

Moses says although he has respects the seven-time world champion Barrera, he does not fear him an inch and will go into this fight like he has done before.’For me it will just be another fight. I know his record is impressive and he is a very respected boxer worldwide, but I have no fear for him or anyone in the ring. It will be only three people in the ring on that day. It will be me, the referee and him, so he better look out for Hitman because I am coming at at him,’ said the confident Police sergeant.Moses spoke ahead of his exhibition fights this weekend against several Namibian boxers which are aimed at preparing him for the title defence.Moses will go into sparring sessions with his counterparts to get him in shape for possibly the toughest fight of his career.Yesterday, his manager and boxing promoter, Nestor Tobias, announced that Moses will spar against five boxers of which two are from South Africa and three local. He will take on Namibia’s Jason Naule who is the former World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion, current World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa welterweight champion, Betuel Uushona and current WBO Africa welterweight champion, Paulus Nuumbembe. From South Africa, he comes up against the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) lightweight All Africa champion, Jason Bebena, as well as World Boxing Federation (WBF) featherweight champion, Oscar Chauke.Tobias said all the five boxers are credible and are expected to give Moses tough competition to get him ready for his fight. ‘There will be blood and tears. Despite it being a sparring session, boxers will go out to challenge Moses because it will be good preparation for him,’ he said.In the highlight of the evening, Namibia’s lightweight WBO Africa champion, Jatoorora Tjingaveta takes on countryman, Martin Haikali in defence of his title and in a re-match.This follows after South Africa’s Wandile Mseleku pulled out at the last minute without giving a reason. There will be four other fights the night ahead of the main bout of Tjingaveta and these include a bantamweight encounter which will see Immanuel Naindaja opening proceedings against Matheus Kaandala.Abnerk Shidjuu takes on Carlton Katerera of Zimbabwe in a flyweight bout, before Vikapita ‘Beast Master’ Meroro meets Mburuku Kheri of Tanzania in a light heavyweight fight.Samuel Kapapu has been pitted against Lawrence Moyo of Zimbabwe for a lightweight fight before the main bout.
