No change to fuel price for June

Minister of industries, mines and energy Modestus Amutse has announced there will be no change in the price of fuel for June.

The price of petrol will remain N$23.48 per litre, while the price of diesel 50ppm will be N$28.26 and the price of diesel 10ppm will be N$28.36.

These are the prices at fuel pumps at Walvis Bay, and prices across the country will remain at their current levels across the country.

The minister says the government will continue to cushion consumers through the National Energy Fund.

Last month, the government spent N$800 million on under-recoveries, while it expects to pay N$47.2 million in June.

“The price we set at the pump is not the price the suppliers ask.

“To protect the interest of our people, we say let’s fix the price at the pump so we can promote transparency and protect the end consumer,” Amutse says.

He says there is no risk of fuel shortages in the country.

“The ministry reassures the public that Namibia has sufficient fuel stocks.

“The national fuel supply system remains stable. The Namibian government remains committed to ensuring fuel supply and cushioning consumers whenever possible,” he says.
