No cellphones in class

SWAKOPMUND -The Principal of the West Side High School, Joan Meyer, told pupils at the beginning of the school year that they are not allowed to bring cellphones to schools.

Meyer said pupils who disobey this rule should know that the school would confiscate cellphones and only return them at the end of the year. “If you bring your cellphone and it is stolen during school hours, do not even bother to report it to the school management,” she said.Meyer also expressed disappointment with last year’s Grade 11 results, saying that none of the candidates managed to pass all their subjects. She said many performed poorly in subjects such as accounting and mathematics.”It has been proven many times that if learners don’t pass their Grade 11 end-of-year exams, they will not pass their end-of-year Grade 12 exams,” she said and added that if pupils wanted to change the situation they must do something about it now.Meyer also said that many pupils were absent for longer than the 16 days allowed for them to be absent with a reason. She said many were absent for 20 or 30 days last year, and if pupils don’t give valid reasons for an absence of more than 16 days this year, they would be removed from the school’s register.Nampa”If you bring your cellphone and it is stolen during school hours, do not even bother to report it to the school management,” she said.Meyer also expressed disappointment with last year’s Grade 11 results, saying that none of the candidates managed to pass all their subjects. She said many were absent for 20 or 30 days last year, and if pupils don’t give valid reasons for an absence of more than 16 days this year, they would be removed from the school’s register.Nampa
