Namibia Medical Care (NMC) has launched a revamped website and mobile application aimed at creating value through focused interaction, delivering on member expectations and those of other key stakeholders.
According to NMC fund manager Ben Nandago, the simplified digital platforms come with a user-friendly interface, which allows members to navigate and access their required information.
“We are going beyond just offering information in that we are sharing ideas through our social media platforms, such as our Facebook page. We already had a website that we launched more than three years ago and an app, which we introduced last year. But they were not user-friendly, according to feedback from our members,” Nandago said.
The website, which is compatible with all web browsers, is accessible to existing and potential NMC members at http://www2.nmcfund.com/.
The newlook website enables members to compare their benefits, download forms, and has an installed premiums calculator.
“Our new feedback functionality now makes it possible for members to post questions, which will be answered by dedicated NMC personnel during working hours.”
A frequently asked questions tab has also been added to the website to avoid the inconvenience of members calling in to enquire about any information related to the fund.
“The way of doing business is evolving every day at alarming speeds, and our aim is to save time and money by availing critical and relevant information at the fingertips of the users,” Nandago said.
The application, which is compatible with Apple and Android mobile devices, can be downloaded on Apple Store and Google Play Store for free, but is only accessible to NMC members as it requires a membership number and pin to access.
“Through the App, members can access information available on our website. The app also allows us to send
notifications to our members, such as any changes that might be made to their benefits. It’s a very convenient and easy to use application,” Nandago said.
Another unique function on the App toolbar is the hospital locator, which allows members to locate the nearest hospital anywhere in the country, depending on their location. After selecting a hospital, the hospital locator provides a map and directs NMC members to the facility.
With the biggest branch network in the industry, Nandago said the digital platforms will enhance client services, and enable the fund to provide information to the few unserviced areas.
“The introduction of the digital platforms will grow our national footprint. As a fund, we have managed to register growth throughout the year, despite the economic conditions, and we remain the biggest fund in terms of principal members, who currently stand at over 30 000,” he noted.
“All NMC platforms are living projects, and continuous improvement is the order of the day, But most importantly, changes are informed by relevant input by existing members and all other key users,” Nandago added.
