The National Housing Enterprise (NHE) handed over 65 houses at Gobabis on Thursday.

Speaking at the official handover, minister of urban and rural development Erastus Uutoni implored the beneficiaries to take care of their houses and to fulfil their payment obligations so that those on the waiting list could benefit from future projects.

“I would like to express my appreciation of the NHE and the two contractors which executed the project at the two sites,” he said.

Uutoni said he trusted that quality work was a key consideration on the project and that those who took ownership of the houses would be satisfied clients for a long time.

“We cannot afford to make them regret these decisions by delivering poor workmanship. So, we are expecting quality, affordable houses everywhere you build houses on our projects,” he said.

Uutoni thanked the Gobabis municipality for assisting the government in providing the community with housing, and encouraged the council to continue making more land available to the NHE for low- to middle-income earners.
