NFA cancels all league matches

The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has cancelled all official league matches following the death of president Hage Geingob.

Geingob died during the early hours of Sunday in a local Windhoek hospital.

“Following the unexpected passing of his excellency, Dr Hage Gottfried Geingob, president of the Republic of Namibia and patron of Namibian football, because of this grief and sorrow the Namibia Football Association has decided to cancel all league matches with immediate effect until further notice,” said NFA spokesperson Cassius Moetie.

The NFA said like all Namibians across the country, the association is deeply saddened by the unfortunate situation.

“Our sincere condolences to the first lady, madam Monica Geingos, their children, family, relatives and the entire Namibian nation.
May the beautiful soul of his excellency, Dr Hage Gottfried Geingob, president of the Republic of Namibia rest in eternal peace,” Moetie said.
