The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has appointed an interim committee to assist with the transition towards a self-managed league.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the NFA’s interim secretary general Cassius Moetie said that Namibia Premier Football League clubs have reaffirmed their commitment to the current association management model of the NFA as a stabilizing football framework.
“By the same token, the NPFL signalled a strategic shift toward a self-managed league structure aligned with best governance practices”, Moetie said.
To support this transition, the NPFL Chairmen’s Forum appointed an interim committee chaired by Nikanor Tuemuna and comprising of Frans Mbidi, Fabio Do Rego, Americo de Almeida and Mathias Haufiku. The committee will draft a transformation roadmap to be discussed and agreed upon with the NFA.
Moetie expressed his sincere appreciation and profound vote of thanks to all the NPFL clubs, especially for their respective chairmen and representatives for the candid engagement, leadership and football maturity exhibited during the NPFL Chairmen’s Forum.
“We are looking forward as football people to continue to paint a positive narrative of our beautiful game and assist the NFA Executive Council, management and staff to build on the upward trajectory the NFA has achieved to date,” Moetie concluded.
The NFA also shared strategic outcomes emanating from the Chairmen’s Forum of the NPFL held at Football House last Saturday. The Forum convened chairpersons and appointed representatives of NPFL clubs for strategic deliberations on the transformation of Namibia’s top-tier men’s league.
A pivotal development was the unanimous endorsement of three new entrants recently promoted from the Nationwide First Division league to the NPFL, namely, Eleven Arrows, Life Fighters and Rundu Chiefs.
“These clubs are no strangers to the top-tier league for men’s football and they join well established clubs like champions African Stars, Blue Waters, Bucks Buccaneers, Eeshoke Chula-Chula, Julinho Sporting, Khomas NamPol, King Kauluma Palace, Mighty Gunners, FC Ongos, Tigers and Young African, with Unam being a noticeable absentee from the NPFL Chairmen’s Forum,” the statement concluded.
