President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on newly elected regional council and local authority councillors to lead with humility, integrity and a firm commitment to improving the lives of the people who entrusted them with their vote.
She said this on Saturday as the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) concluded the final announcement of election results.
“I congratulate all elected regional council and local authority leaders. You have been entrusted with an important responsibility,” she said.
Nandi-Ndaitwah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fully implementing the sixth National Development Plan (NDP6), describing it as the country’s shared roadmap for economic recovery, food security, youth empowerment, industrialisation, improved public services and stronger communities.
She said the success of the NDP6 requires collective effort.
“I call on all Namibians, and everyone living in our country, to play their part in building the Namibia we want. Development is a shared responsibility, and progress is possible when every hand contributes to the same goal,” she said.
Nandi-Ndaitwah added that Namibia’s democracy grows stronger when citizens protect, nurture and actively participate in it. She urged Namibians to remain united and peaceful.
“Let us continue strengthening the stability that has guided our nation for decades,” she said.
She commended the nation for conducting peaceful and respectful elections and campaigns, saying Namibia once again demonstrated the true meaning of democracy.
