Netball Namibia believes they have selected the best under-19 players to represent the country at the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region Five games on home soil later this year.
The netball governing body held national trials over the weekend in Windhoek, where the Region 5 games will be hosted from 4 to 13 July.
After running the rule over 27 athletes who excelled at the 2024 Namibia Youth Games hosted at Oshakati, the selectors settled on a group of 15 who they believe will keep Namibia’s flag flying high at the international youth competition.
The players were assessed on their demonstration of exceptional skill coupled with fitness and teamwork.
“Congratulations to all the players who made it onto the final roster. Your hard work, dedication and passion for the game have paid off. We are excited to see how you will represent Namibia on the international stage,” Netball Namibia said.
A detailed timeline and schedule of the team’s preparations will be announced soon.
“We encourage all fans to come out and support our young athletes as they embark on this exciting journey” the netball federation said.
“Thank you to everyone who participated in the trials and to our coaches for their guidance throughout this process. Together, let’s continue to grow and promote netball in Namibia.”
