Netball Namibia (NN) has appointed Jessica Gaomuses as its substantive secretary general.
She will also serve as the netball body’s chief executive.
NN made the announcement in a statement, with president Juanitha Witbeen saying: “We are excited, and with the federation’s intention to professionalise netball, we hope to have somebody manning the office from 08h00 to 17h00.
“We really hope that with her experience she will be able to bring the professionalism we need.”
Gaomuses has signed a one-year contract with NN because of limited funds, but Witbeen says she hopes to have a secretary general for five years to align with the executive term of office if more funding is secured.
“This appointment marks a significant moment for netball in Namibia as the federation continues to strengthen its governance structure and accelerate the growth and professionalisation of the sport,” she says.
“Gaomuses brings with her strong leadership, administrative expertise, and a deep commitment to the advancement of netball. In her role as secretary general, she will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operations, and financial stewardship of the federation while working closely with stakeholders to expand opportunities for athletes, coaches and administrators across the country,” she says.
“Under her leadership, NN aims to further strengthen development programmes, enhance national competitions, build sustainable partnerships, and elevate the profile of netball both nationally and internationally.”
