Ndonga Linena expects 5 710-tonne maize harvest

The farm manager of the Ndonga Linena green scheme in the Kavango East region, Janno Ronntel, says the farm is expecting a 5 710-tonne maize harvest this year.

This from 647 hectares of irrigable land, which they planted from October to December last year.
Ronntel says the 647 hectares of land include 480 hectares of commercial land, 150 hectares of small-scale farmland, and 20 hectares of medium-scale farmland.

Of the 174 hectares of small-scale farmland, 150 hectares have been planted.

Ronntel says the planted commercial part of the green scheme will be harvested from March to April, while the small-scale farmland will be harvested this month.

Once harvesting has been completed, the fields will be planted with wheat in May, he says.
