Ndjadila gets top CAF post

THE Namibia Football Association’s (NFA) Referees’ Coordinator, Boy-Boy Ndjadila, achieved a first for Namibia when he was recently appointed as the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Education Director.

Ndjadila’s appointment on the Education of Association’s Project means that the former football star will be responsible for the training of administrators of associations on the aspects of management and administration. Ndjadila, who until his new appointment was responsible for the training and appointment of referees for Namibia Premier League matches, was scheduled to leave for Cairo, Egypt, today where he will receive training for five days.”I am excited, very much in my element. This is not only a personal milestone. It is also a milestone of Namibia that one of its own products was appointed to serve on one of the key departments of CAF.”It is really nice to realise that all the hard work and commitment I’ve put in helping to develop football in my country and on regional level has been recognised.I would like to thank NFA President John Muinjo for fighting on my behalf,” he said.A red-hot right winger for both Blue Waters and Tigers FC during his playing career, which started in 1972 and ended 1985, the Walvis-born Ndjadila is regarded as one of the most dedicated and committed officials of the NFA.A former referee himself, the soft-spoken gentleman of the local game was also a CAF referees’ instructor and he also enjoyed a very distinctive refereeing career as the first Namibian Fifa referee. He became an international referee after attending a regional referees’ course in Lesotho in 1990, not too bad at all considering the fact that Namibia was only admitted to the international fold in the same year.”Football is my life.I played the game myself at club and national level because I also turned out for the pre-independence national team and I have dug very deep roots in the administration and development of local football.”I’m am honestly ecstatic to have been appointed to serve on a continental committee. This is like a dream come true because it has always been my dream to serve football on continental level.I wish for my country to benefit from my appointment,” he said.Ndjadila will also be remembered as one of the best spot-kick takers in Namibia alongside other greats like Sagarias ‘Selle’ Augumeb (Chief Santos), Hendrik ‘Doc’ Hadley (Orlando Pirates), Albert ‘Boetie’ Louw (Black Africa) and the maestro himself Oscar ‘Silver Fox’ Mengo, during his illustrious playing days.Ndjadila, who until his new appointment was responsible for the training and appointment of referees for Namibia Premier League matches, was scheduled to leave for Cairo, Egypt, today where he will receive training for five days.”I am excited, very much in my element. This is like a dream come true because it has always been my dream to serve football on continental level.I wish for my country to benefit from my appointment,” he said.Ndjadila will also be remembered as one of the best spot-kick takers in Namibia alongside other greats like Sagarias ‘Selle’ Augumeb (Chief Santos), Hendrik ‘Doc’ Hadley (Orlando Pirates), Albert ‘Boetie’ Louw (Black Africa) and the maestro himself Oscar ‘Silver Fox’ Mengo, during his illustrious playing days.
