A member of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) is expected to appear in the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court on Monday for allegedly dealing in and being in possession of cannabis valued at N$48 000.
Police head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa region senior inspector Maureen Mbeha on Monday morning said the soldier (30) was arrested on Sunday morning at a shopping mall at Okahandja.
Mbeha said the suspect was arrested after the police received a tip-off on his alleged drug dealing.
“A team of police officers was dispatched to the shopping mall at about 10h30 on Sunday morning, and upon arrival it was discovered the suspect was allegedly dealing in skunk,” said Mbeha.
The 960g of cannabis, with an estimated street value of N$48 000, was confiscated at the mall.
Police investigations continue.
