NCCI’s SME conference postponed because of funding

NCCI’s SME conference postponed because of funding

THE financial crisis does not only affect big corporations with large debts on their books. It is also manifesting itself in other, smaller ways and these are affecting people on the ground.

One such example is the recent postponement of an SME conference that was to be held at Ongwediva.
Citing a lack of funding, the Namibian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) said the event had to be postponed to try and source further sponsorships.
Apparently the sponsor, Standard Bank, has cut back its funding due to the impact of the global financial crisis.
After initially agreeing to fund the NCCI’s SME Development activities for five years, Cleo Moono of the NCCI said Standard Bank ‘has decided to cut back its sponsorship’.
The event, which was to be held on April 29 at the Ongwediva Trade Fair Centre, has now been postponed to May 27.
