NCCI to host BEE seminar

THE Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) will tomorrow hold a one-day seminar on project and BEE financing.

According to NCCI chief Executive Officer Tarah Shaanika, the seminar is a follow-up to some of the recommendations made at last year’s colloquium on ‘Mobilisation of Domestic Savings for Investing in the Local Economy’, which the Chamber hosted in conjunction with the Office of the Prime Minister. The seminar is also aimed at reviewing existing financing options with a view to identifying possible ways of improving access to financing by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and emerging business.Topics for discussion will include financing options in Namibia and challenges in financing emerging projects, structuring finance for BEE businesses, private equity as a vehicle for financing emerging businesses and the Namibian Stock Exchange, and opportunities in raising capital.Executives from local financing institutions are expected to make presentations at this seminar, which should attract entrepreneurs, project promoters, development partners and other parties interested in BEE financing.
