NBL, JCC advise on tenders

NAMIBIA Breweries and the Joint Consultative Committee on Monday hosted a small business forum in Windhoek aimed at advising small business on how to win tenders.

Mickal Tjituka of the NBL information centre said some 94 people attended the forum to hear how they can improve their bids for tenders. Panelist Andries Mouton of Pupkewitz described what he looks for when approached for quotations regarding possible tender applications, Sam Maobokere of the City of Windhoek discussed tenders issued by the city, Meriam Onesmus of Namibia National Tender Board addressed tender procedures and rules while Dr Rainer Trede of Decosa highlighted training on tenders offered at Decosa.Notably the length of validity of quotations attached to tender applications was a matter of concern as the panel noted that 30 day quotations usually expire before tenders are awarded and 90 day or longer quotations are better for this use. Also regarding feedback to applicants who are not awarded tenders, the panel explained that though the number of applicants often prevents tender authorities from contacting failed applicants, people could always call after the closing of tenders to find out why they had not succeeded.Panelist Andries Mouton of Pupkewitz described what he looks for when approached for quotations regarding possible tender applications, Sam Maobokere of the City of Windhoek discussed tenders issued by the city, Meriam Onesmus of Namibia National Tender Board addressed tender procedures and rules while Dr Rainer Trede of Decosa highlighted training on tenders offered at Decosa.
