Naukushu still on suspension

Naukushu still on suspension

FORMER Namibia Football (NFA) Vice President Salomo Naukushu says he is still in the dark on his suspension from the football mother body in June, after he was accused of trying to depose current president Petrus Damaseb.

Naukushu told The Namibian Sport yesterday that he has not heard anything from the football authorities after they decided to launch an investigation into the matter. He said he was suspended on the grounds that he wanted to unseat Damaseb from the position of football boss in the country, as he apparently campaigned behind the backs of his fellow executive members.”I have not heard a single word or received any letter regarding my status with the NFA today. All I know is that I am still on suspension, but how long it will be, I don’t know,” he said.NFA spokesperson Beau Kauta said the case was still going on, but it has to be finalised soon.”There has been no indication exactly when it will be finalised.I am also waiting for the NFA executive to come back to me on this,” he said.Naukushu was suspended on June 23, a few weeks ahead of the NFA Congress, at which new executive members were elected.Naukushu was appointed as the vice president last year in an attempt to relieve Damaseb of some of the administrative workload at Soccer House, especially concerning national team duties.Naukushu said he decided to back off until the investigations are completed and will also not make any attempts to enquire about his status with the association.”I will wait for them.If they cannot prove anything against me, I will still consider if I will stay in football or not,” he said.He said he was suspended on the grounds that he wanted to unseat Damaseb from the position of football boss in the country, as he apparently campaigned behind the backs of his fellow executive members.”I have not heard a single word or received any letter regarding my status with the NFA today. All I know is that I am still on suspension, but how long it will be, I don’t know,” he said.NFA spokesperson Beau Kauta said the case was still going on, but it has to be finalised soon.”There has been no indication exactly when it will be finalised.I am also waiting for the NFA executive to come back to me on this,” he said.Naukushu was suspended on June 23, a few weeks ahead of the NFA Congress, at which new executive members were elected.Naukushu was appointed as the vice president last year in an attempt to relieve Damaseb of some of the administrative workload at Soccer House, especially concerning national team duties.Naukushu said he decided to back off until the investigations are completed and will also not make any attempts to enquire about his status with the association.”I will wait for them.If they cannot prove anything against me, I will still consider if I will stay in football or not,” he said.
