Outgoing Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) chief executive Nangula Uaandja reflects on a challenging 2025, her future ambitions, leadership tests and economic opportunities for Namibia in 2026.

• 2025 was?

Excitingly challenging. We saw a new visionary and action-oriented Presidency. Business unusual was felt across many arenas. Change is always challenging and disruptive but it brings a lot of opportunities and new perspectives on matters.

• 2026 will be?

A year of great things. I will enter the year on a clean slate and scan the ecosystem for opportunities to serve. Namibia continues to see significant opportunities for economic development across various sectors. I am certain Namibia and I will find a new point of intersection for the benefit of our people.

• What would you not spend money on?

An expensive car, hard liquor and anything else with the capacity to alter the state of my mind.

• What was the last text you sent?

I thanked someone for a very beautiful Christmas present.

• Your role, key projects, and sector in 2025?

To be determined.

• What has 2025 taught you?

I have a purpose and must listen and be disciplined to ensure that I am ready to act as God directs. Overcome the temptation of comfort and ignore the voices of distractions whether they be praise, pressure or pleasure.

• What is the single most important quote or line of text that defined your outlook in 2025?

My personal anchor for this year which is: Bible words of Job 5:8 to 27. In summary, I heard “listen and be disciplined. God will do the rest”.

• If artificial intelligence could magically fix one everyday task for you, what would you pick?

Respond to my emails. I hate a full inbox and I don’t like to disrespect others by ignoring their emails.

• The song you played most this year?

‘You are Holy (Prince of Peace)’ by Michael Smith.

• What puts you or your sector in the spotlight?

Telling the world about Namibia and the opportunities we have to offer.

• What is your dream Namibian holiday destination?

Swakopmund.

• Which moment in 2025 tested your leadership the most?

Leading my team at the NIPDB in the midst of uncertainty about the future of the organisation, security of their employment and hyped media speculations. I am glad there is some more clarity now.

• What issue in Namibian politics do you feel has been overlooked?

The role of traditional leaders.

• What is your biggest goal for 2026 in strengthening your party or movement?

Finding a new cause to drive in support of the government’s efforts to create 500 000 jobs and eliminate inequality, poverty and unemployment.
