Nandi-Ndaitwah urges party voters to imitate Outapi by-election results

Swapo president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has urged Namibians to turn out in large numbers and give the party a strong mandate by imitating the Outapi constituency by-election results.

She says Outapi had paved the way for the upcoming elections by securing a strong foothold for the party.

Last week, Swapo candidate Selma Asino won the Outapi by-election with more than 9 000 votes, while her opponent, Fillemon Shikwambi of the Independent Patriots for Change, received just over 600 votes.

Nandi-Ndaitwah made the remarks on Saturday during the party’s regional council and local authority campaign at Walvis Bay, Kuisebmund.

“What are we waiting for? Outapi has shown us. Now let us follow suit and emerge victorious,” she said.

She urged Swapo leaders in all 121 constituencies to campaign hard to secure votes and mobilise supporters.

Nandi-Ndaitwah also called on Namibians to work together, saying that while she is Swapo’s president, she is also the president of the nation.

She added that service delivery would not be delayed if Swapo is given a strong mandate.
