The Swapo central committee (CC) meeting currently taking place at parliament on Saturday has resolved to have the extraordinary congress, but with its vice president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as the only candidate for party president.
No other members have reportedly indicated that they will challenge for the president or vice president position. CC members are said to be at the point of discussing modalities.
This follows the death of party president Hage Geingob on 4 February which created a leadership vacuum in the party.
