President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says she has learnt with deep sorrow about the death of Hulda Isaaks, a prominent figure in Namibia’s liberation struggle.

Isaaks died aged 107 on 31 July at Mariental State Hospital.

In her message of condolence, Nandi-Ndaitwah says: “I have learnt with deep sadness about the passing of comrade Hulda Isaaks, a dedicated freedom fighter who sacrificed her life for the liberation of her motherland.”

She says as Namibia honours Isaaks, it celebrates a life spent in pursuit of justice, unity, and progress for all Namibians.

Nandi-Ndaitwah describes Isaaks as a loyal Swapo member who supported her leaders since 1976 when she joined the party at Gibeon.

As a result of her unwavering commitment and support to the liberation struggle of
Namibia, the president says, Isaaks was accorded the veteran status by the Namibian government.

Nandi-Ndaitwah adds that Isaaks’ brave activism and dedication towards Namibia’s liberation remain engraved in the nation’s memory.

“On behalf of the people and the government of Namibia, I extend sincere condolences to her children, the entire bereaved family, friends, and comrades,” she says.
