President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah joins Namibians in celebrating International Mother’s Day 2025, saying it is a special occasion to remind ourselves about the unique and extraordinary role mothers play in our lives from the moment we are born.

“With the innate love and compassion they
are born with, mothers care, they nurture and they protect and guide as we go through the challenges of growing up.”

The president says on this special day, Namibians should pause to reflect on what they owe mothers for the gift of life, which only mothers can give.

“Today, is a day of love and giving to our mothers as anchors of our families.”

“However, it is also a call to action to value mothers and to protect them against all forms of gender-based violence, which has the potential to erode the social fabric of our society,” she adds.

The says her administration will strengthen initiatives that guarantee the health and safety of mothers, including the child.

She also says on Mother’s Day, Namibians must reward and reciprocate mothers with protection, love and compassion.
