NamPower helps Caprivi

NAMPOWER says it has activated its diesel power station at Katima Mulilo to help the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (Nored) with its power supply in the region.

Corporate Communications Officer of NamPower, Chris Ndivanga, said on Friday that the Caprivi Region had experienced a series of power outages since March 21. He attributed this to problems experienced with the 66kV Victoria Falls-Katima Mulilo power line that supplies power to the region. The region falls within the Nored area of supply but NamPower was approached by them to activate its standby facility – the diesel-powered generator.Ndivanga said NamPower continued to consult with the Zambia Electricity Supply Company (ZESCO) to confirm when the line would be operational.
