9 lives lost since Monday
Nine lives have been lost over the past four days due to Namibia’s ongoing mental health crisis.
This distressing trend has attracted national concern with calls being raised to discuss mental health more openly.
One such case is that of Gerrit Lambert (51), the owner of the Elisenheim Spar.
His body was discovered on Farm Terra Rosa in the Khomas Hochland Windhoek district on Wednesday morning.
“No foul play is suspected,” the police have said.
Lambert was a respected businessman and well-liked member of the Elisenheim community.
The Elisenheim Lifestyle Estate in a shared post say: “Gerrit’s presence in the store was a reflection of his character – steady, compassionate and dependable.
He served his community with quiet integrity and always placed the well-being of others at the heart of everything he did.”
Carlos Miljo (59) died in his office at Crown Security at Klein Windhoek.
Deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi says the incident took place at approximately 16h40 on Monday afternoon.
Other victims include Petrus Nowaseb from Aranos, Zenotjiuonga Tjatjitua (19), Elizabeth Gideon (44), Angolan Rijandja Tjakareruah, Andreas Astofel from Wanaheda, Andre van Coller (52), and David Plaatjies, who was found deceased at the Epukiro Roman Catholic area on Wednesday.
